Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the founder and CEO of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family when she was 16 years old. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The first non-English student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Being a conservative syndicated blog when she graduated, she was able to be the voice of Huffington Post. Her fame and popularity helped in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she decided to stand for a non-partisan position during the California recall election in order to succeed the then governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit fuel-efficient car project. Forbes declared her to be as one of the "most influential women" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as the president of their media company, which also included other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. The parents of her were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. Though she shared a close friendship with both her father and mother but it was their connection that shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities even in her early years. When she was 16, she moved from America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years and was the third female to be elected the president. The year 1972 was the year her master's in Economics was conferred. She became a writer, a critic television host, and a columnist after her graduation. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance in editing.
