April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players to have achieved this feat. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. However, more importantly Ross is aiming to capture their first Olympic gold. In fact, at 39 this may be her last opportunity to do so. She is still confident, however. Ross has told NBC Boston that he believes if they play their most effective, and even play a great game, we'll be in the running for gold. In addition, I'm hoping to have some luck. Ross had her birth on August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and the track as well as her indoor volleyball achievements during her prep time. She was definitely a superior player in this latter game. According to her bio, she was a middle blocker, as well as an outside hitter in the volleyball court throughout her high school career. For her efforts, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross began their collaboration in the year 2017, however, Ross was an established participant on the beach for quite a while before. In fact, she won many major events playing two partners. One that is also the volleyball legend. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009, while racing internationally. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympics. They were defeated for the gold medal by the famous team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. After graduating from high school and a couple of years before she hit the beach as a professional Ross balled out to the USC Trojans in her first season as an NCAA. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, as a freshman she fought her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach in the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she went through a heartbreaking personal tragedy, but was capable of being selected as an All-American. Over her final two years within the team, she guided the Trojans up the mountain, winning consecutive national championships. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female player in the country. Ross was a major in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter rise to the top of the beach volleyball world. At the time of 2001, while Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away of cancer of the breast. She still cherishes her parents who passed away. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her, in and out on the beach.
